  • The Ride for Water Justice in Jordan Valley | The Freedom Theatre
    ركب العدالة للحصول على المياه headed to the Jordan Valley community of Al Hadadiya on Friday Nov 16th The Israeli army threatened to stop the Freedom Bus from joining the people of Al Hadidiya in the solidarity event that was due to take place on land they had farmed for generations The army claimed that necessary permission from the nearby Israeli colony of Ro i had not been granted The issue was eventually resolved and the event could take place as planned A joint initiative between the Freedom Theatre Thirsting for Water Justice and Juzoor the Ride for Water Justice brings together Palestinian and international activists students journalists artists and the wider public to discuss water apartheid and the broader struggle for freedom and justice in occupied Palestine through Playback Theatre performances community discussions and guided tours The Freedom Bus uses Playback Theatre for community building trauma response and cultural activism In a Playback event audience members share thoughts feelings memories and autobiographical accounts and watch as a team of actors and musicians transform these experiences into improvised theatre pieces Playback Theatre responds to the fundamental human need to share one s story and have it heard acknowledged and honored

    attend the performance of Caligula by Albert Camus Caligula is the story of the most human and the most tragic of errors Unfaithful to man loyal to himself Caligula consents to die for having understood that no one can save himself all alone and that one cannot be free in opposition to other men Performed by students and graduates of the Drama Academy Ramallah When December 13 5 pm Where The Freedom Theatre Jenin Refugee Camp Albert Camus said about Caligula the first of his plays that he wrote it after reading the book Twelve Caesars by the Roman historian Sotniyo Camus chose the figure of the emperor Caligula and named the play after him Caligula was the emperor who ruled over the Roman Empire between the years 12 and 14 A D The events of the play Caligula take place in Roman environment and conditions All the characters belong to a historic time that of the people who surrounded the emperor Caligula Despite that Camus wanted to present the play as a tragedy of his generation a tragedy of thought Also he surpassed the Existentialists by stopping decisively at the ugliness of life and extended that by rebelling against
