    bring awareness to their neighborhood issues planted a community garden developed a creative fund raiser or worked in a peer program that showed improvement in bullying Nominations are coming only from the public If you know a person or business in the Mohawk Valley who helps make this community a more peaceful place consider nominating them by filling out the online form Training Veterans to Help Each Other Military veterans and their families have the same disputes as all people but the issues are often amplified due to circumstances unique to them post traumatic stress traumatic brain injury and long term separation from family We will train veterans to mediate for veterans and provide skill training in partnership with veterans organizations in Oneida and Madison counties said Steve Robinson Executive Director Combat to Clarity Collaborative Problem Solving with and for Military Veterans is being funded by a ten thousand dollar a year grant from the Interest On Lawyers Accounts IOLA administered through the New York State Dispute Resolution Association The grant will fund program development and implementation to provide no charge mediation training services and conflict resolution skill development to military veterans and families Partnering with veterans groups Clear Path for Veterans in Madison county Central New York Veterans Outreach Center Feed our Vets located in Oneida county and the Legal Aid Society of Mid New York The Peacemaker Program hopes to reach as many veterans as possible with this new program Combat to Clarity will be seeking out veterans who wish to become mediators Anyone who is interested in learning more about mediation for veterans please contact the Peacemaker Program directly at 724 1718 or sign up here Follow us on 100 7 Talk of the Town Peacemaker Expands to Include Madison County The Peacemaker Program Inc is now

    solve problems and bring people together Let us find them shake their hands and recognize their talents Our selection committee will choose one individual and one organization from the nominations The honorees will be recognized at our Community Peacemaker Breakfast on October 9 2013 and presented artwork designed specifically for The Community Peacemaker award by Michelle Roberts an acclaimed local artist Our 2nd annual Community Peacemakers Award Breakfast will also honor those dedicated individuals who are exceptional all year long and who make our agency s mission possible This list includes our specialists mediators and arbitrators as well as our CASA Court Appointed Special Advocates CCAP Child Custody Advocates and SDMC Surrogate Decision Making Committee volunteers We will also honor particular people chosen by their peers from our court system and community that work tirelessly for the good of the Peacemaker Program and their local areas Reserve space and buy tickets online here The selection committee will be looking for nominees that use innovative techniques or ideas that show appreciable change in our community people who live kind compassionate and generous lives For example the person or organization may have established a mentoring program created a safe place for children

    Volunteer Application as soon as possible as an interview is required and seats in the training are sharply limited Please contact us if you have any questions So Long Farewell The Peacemaker Program family has had to say goodbye to two of our most beloved staff Ronde S Brown and Steve Robinson Ronde has chosen to enter retirement after a career dedicated to dispute resolution that predates The Peacemaker Program itself She looks forward to the opportunity to spend more time with her children and grandchildren Her duties are largely taken up by Melissa Hillage see article at right though no one can ever truly replace Ronde After years of dedicated service Steve has led the agency through difficult times to a place of calm and confidence He is looking to return to his roots in the American South where he can bring his ADR skills to law enforcement and be closer to family and friends His not inconsiderable shoes will be filled for now by Mark W Leuthauser We wish both Ronde and Steve all the best and want them to know that they will be missed Meet the New Hire Melissa Hillage has joined The Peacemaker Program as the Family Services Coordinator Melissa s purview will include a variety of family mediation services including Custody Visitation Child Support Divorce Separation and Elder Mediation as well as administering the Child Custody Advocate Program Melissa is already familiar to our staff and many of our volunteers having served with us during an internship as part of her ongoing education She brings skill compassion and enthusiasm to the job and we count ourselves lucky to have her New Training Contract CONT ACT Community Services has hired The Peacemaker Program to provide mediation training to their staff Based in Syracuse CONT ACT
