  • Haldun Taner's play “And the mill was Turning” was performed in Azerbaijani Turkic language :: TURKSOY
    Tuesday 29 December 2015 Haberler Ana Banner The play by the famous Turkish playwright Haldun Taner s And the Mil was Turning was performed in Azerbaijan within the framework of the Year of Haldun Taner 2015 This play which had not been performed in Turkey either before was translated into Azerbaijani Turkic language by Gunel Selimli and performed by the Shaki State Drama Theater under Mirbala Selimli as Art Director The Premiere performance was attended by TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov the Governor of Shaki Elhan Usubov the Consul of the Republic of Turkey Orhan Işık the actor and art director of the Ankara State Theater representing the Directorate General of Theaters of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Erdal Kucukkomurcu Perviz Isgenderov representing the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to TURKSOY along with many guests The Year of Haldun Taner 2015 officially ended with the performance of Haldun Taner s play Yılı And the Mil was Turning in Shaki At the end of the performance TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov congratulated actors of the Shaki Drama Theater and handed over souvenirs to all those who contributed to the event Haldun Taner s And the Mil was Turning is the first play by Haldun Taner to have been included in the repertoire of the Shaki State Drama Theater It will be further performed throughout 2016 News Gallery Popular News Recent News Merv Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2015 Monday 29 June 2015 Amaliya Panahova s 70th Birthday celebrated in Azerbaijan Monday 27 July 2015 43rd World Conference of the ICTM held in Astana Thursday 16 July 2015 3 Gold Medals awarded to the Youth Chamber Choir of TURKSOY in Germany Saturday

  • Celebration of Education in Turkish Language by Turks of Macedonia in Ankara :: TURKSOY
    featured joyful moments The celebration event started with the national anthems of Turkey and Macedonia and went on with a documentary on the evolution of education in Turkish language for Macedonian Turks The opening speeches of the event were delivered by TU RKSOY Deputy Secretary General Prof Dr Fırat Purtaş the Chargé d Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Turkey Şpresa Yusufi and the Mayor of Kecioren Mustafa Ak In the speech he delivered TU RKSOY Deputy Secretary General Prof Dr Fırat Purtaş said I believe that this event will help us fostering our cooperation with our kindred people in Macedonia whom we consider as part of our common cultural territory with a rich cultural heritage December 21st is a major celebration for all our kindred peoples living in Macedonia through which they also celebrate their existence Our kindred peoples have been living in the Balkans for centuries with their schools and educationn in Turkish language their culture ant their literature I would like to therefore extend my gratitude to the Republic of Macedonia and to the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Ankara for the support they provided to this cooperation The celebration event also featured a presentation concerning Education in Turkish Language in Macedonia by Prof Dr Mehmet Zeki Ibrahimgil from the From the Faculty of Art History of the Gazi University as well as poem readings The poem readings were followed by a painting and photography exhibition of TURKSOY featuring paintings by Macedonian artists as well as photos of Ottoman monuments in Macedonia The celebration event ended with a concert featuring wonderful folk songs from the Balkans performed by the Ankara State Ensemble of Turkish Folk Music of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey News Gallery Popular

  • 80th Birthday of Omor Sultanov :: TURKSOY
    we have carried out in previous years The promotion of illustrious personalities of the Turkic World who contributed to the preservation and enrichment of our presious common cultural heritage is a mission which is dear to our hearts This is also why we attach particular importance to this event today Just as all other Kyrgyz authors Omar Sultanov is also inspired by the Tian Shen mountains as well as by the epic legends tales and lullabies of his homeland His work reflects the spiritual values and state of mind of the society he lives in I believe that he will continue enrichening our cultural heritage with his valuable work for many years ahead The Ambassador of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to Ankara Ibragim Junusov who also took the floor at the meeting spoke about the importance of Omor Sultanov in Kyrgyz literature and said that he is a poet who has not only inspired entire generations feelings but also remains a strong source of inspiration for authors of the Turkc World as its wise man The Author of the Year 2014 in the Turkic World Ismail Bozkurt who was among the participants of the meeting said I know Omor Sultanov for the last 10 years I have read many of his works I would like to congratulate him and wish him further success I hope that he will further contribute to Kyrgyz literature as well as world literature for many years ahead In a meeting I participated in years ago Chingis Aitmatov once stressed the absolute necessity of the Author of the Turkic World Award I would therefore like to express my gratitude to TURKSOY This award which is offered to a different author of the Turkic World every year does undoubtedly contribute to the preservation and promot ion of our common cultural heritage Omor Sultanov who took the floor following the opening speeches extended his gratitude to the audience and touched upon the fruitful contribution of TURKSOY and the Eurasian Authors Union to the literature of the Turkic World Sultanov who assured the audience that he will further write poems said that this title as well as the event held on the occasion thereof increases his responsabilities even more Sultanov added I still write lyrical poems This is because I would like to teach you how lyrism and love still does exist at the age of 80 and read one of his poems In the last part of his speech Sultanov said that 80 years seem to have elapsed faster than 80 months and added Do not be afraid when you turn 80 years for in the worst case you will be like me I am deeply honoured by your compliments and I will continue writing to be worth these compliments Who is Omor Sultanov Omor Sultanov was born in 1935 in the village of Tosor in the Ceti Oguz town of Issyk Kul City in Kyrgyzstan Following his graduation from highschool in 1953 Soltanov started studying Pilology at

    Zeytinburnu gathered the Minister of Culture Tourism and Information of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Altynbek Maksutov the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Huseyin Yayman TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov the Ambassador of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to Turkey Prof Dr Ibrahim Cunusov the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Kocaeli Ibrahim Karaosmanoglu and the Mayor of Zeytinburnu Murat Aydın along with many other guests In the speech he delivered at the opening ceremony of the event TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov stressed the fact that Yusuf Has Hajib s legacy is of great importance for the Turkic also said Yusuf Has Hajip is the author of the famous Kutadgu Bilig which is the first significant work of Turkic Islamic literature He is a great philosopher not only for the Turkic World but also for the World in general We have declared the year 2016 as Year of Yusuf Has Hajib to commemorate him and pay tribute to the precious heritage he left behind Mr Kaseinov also said Yusuf Has Hajib played a key role in the use of Turkic language as a language of scholars Thus he is a cornerstone of the history of Turkic culture and announced that many cultural events will be carried out in TURKSOY member countries throughout 2016 within the framework of the Year of Yusuf Has Hajib The opening event also featured a concert with colourful performances of famous artists from Kyrgyzstan Kyrgyzbay Osmanov Bakyt Shatenov and Omurzak Kayipov as well as the Ak Maral State Dance Ensemble and the Ordo Sahna Music Ensemble WHO IS YUSUF HAS HAJIP The great author and philosopher who was born in the city of Balasagun located in the Kara Khanid Khanate in 1016 wrote the political treatise Kutadgu Bilig between 1069 1070

    Abdulaziz Al Nasser who attended the event as a guest of honour expressed his happiness to be in Sheki and stressed that with its rich cultural heritage Sheki the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2016 will contribute to the growth of the country s tourism and economy The opening speeches were followed by a concert featuring colourful performances of artists from Azerbaijan Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan Turkmenistan and Turkey who took their audience onto an unforgettable journey to the wonderful music and art of the Turkic World 8th Press Awards of TURKSOY handed over to their winners As a traditional event held by TURKSOY every year Press Awards of TURKSOY took place for the eighth time within the framework of opening events of the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2016 This year the Press Award of TURKSOY featuring a statue based on the theme Unity for Strength was handed over to 15 journalists from Azerbaijan Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan Turkey Turkmenistan Gagauzia Moldova and Macedonia The statue inspired from the Oghuz Khan Legend is being handed over to personalities and institutions in recognition of their valubale contribution to the preservation and the transmission of the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic World to future generations With this award TURKSOY expresses its gratitude to the media sector and its members for their great contribution to the building of cultural bridges among countries Sheki The city of Sheki which will be hosting hundreds of cultural and artistic events throughout the year within the framework of its declaration as Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2016 is one of the oldest cities of Azerbaijan as well as an important touristic destination of the country Located in the North Western part of Azerbaijan Sheki also features many historical monuments and attracts tourists from all over the World throughout the year thanks to its geographical position beautiful landscapes and typical regional accent The city of Sheki which is located next to the Kish river on the foothills of two thousand meter high mountains covered with oak forests is famous for its healing waters and sericulture With its many historical monuments it is a city which preserves and transmits Turkic culture to future generations The Cultural Capital of the Turkic World Upon decision of the Heads of States of Turkic Speaking Countries at their 10th Summit held in Istanbul in 2010 one city of the Turkic World is being declared as its Cultural Capital every year Within the framework of this initiative launched by TURKSOY the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2012 was Astana followed by Eskisehir in 2013 Kazan in 2014 and Merv in 2015 Following the unanimous decision of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY member countries at the 33rd Term Meeting of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY held in Merv Turkmenistan the city of Sheki Azerbaijan was declared Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2016 Within the framework of events to celebrate the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World hundreds of artistic and

  • TURKSOY brings the Colours of Spring to the USA :: TURKSOY
    R T Erdogan expressed his appreciation of activities carried out by TURKSOY as an international organization founded in 1993 to preserve revive and explore Turkic Culture Mr Erdogan further wished success to the artists in their forthcoming performances in the USA and extended souvenirs to them as a remembrance of the day Two unforgettable concerts in New York Within the framework of Nevruz Celebrations of TURKSOY two performances took place in New York with the contribution of 150 artists from the Turkic World The performances which were free of charge took an audience of nearly three thousand people onto an unforgettable journey to the Turkic World The first concert in New York took place on March 28th 2016 in the United Nations General Assembly Hall for the second time after five years On the occasion of the event the United Nations General Assembly where historical decisions are met by representatives of 192 countries was transformed into a huge concert hall The celebration event organized in coordination of the Permanent Representations of Azerbaijan Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan Turkmenistan and Turkey to the UN gathered a large audience The Deputy Secretary General of the UN Jan Eliasson who delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the event said that the Nevruz Feast is considered by the UN as a cultural heritage and expressed his pleasure to watch the Nevruz Concert of TURKSOY again after five years Mr Eliasson who also said that a large number of countries celebrating Nevruz have been victims of extremely ruthless attacks added Violent attacks perpetrated by radicalists can only be overcome through the power of solidarity What radicalists want is separation and polarization The best response to this attitude is to hold together TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov who also delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the celebration strongly condemned recent terrorist attacks in Turkey and Belgium and said that the latter cast a sorrowful shadow on Nevruz celebrations Mr Kaseinov further said N evruz is a traditional feast which brings people closer together by reminding them of the fact that they are all part of nature As such it has been shaped by peoples living in various countries of Eurasia which enriched this celebration with their own national patterns throughout centuries Nevruz means renewal kindness light warmth tolerance and forgiveness It is a feast which brings hope joy of life serenity and peace to humanity This year Nevruz celebrations are particularly meaningful for us Indeed the founding member countries of TU RKSOY Azerbaijan Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their independence For the last 25 years we had been dreaming of this collective celebration dating back to thousands of years Let me therefore extend my gratitude to the Secretary General of the United Nations for hosting this meaningful event as well as to all our guests who are honouring us with their presence here today May your Nevruz Feast bew blessed I would like to conclude my speech with an advice
