    the Green Industry Exam Breakdown 70 or higher to pass Includes but not limited to First aid and safety landscape maintenance landscape equipment landscape design and plan reading irrigation pruning and pesticides 120 minutes Plant ID Part I Plant Identification 45 min Part II Plant Characteristics 46 min The TCLA exam is available online for anyone with a high speed internet connection The exam can be taken at home work schools libraries etc What you need for the online exam If you already have a login to the TNLA Members Only section of this site you can proceed with your TCLA Certification application If you do not know your user login and password contact TNLA If you do not already have a login you can create one when you register for the exam Ready to take the exam To start the TCLA certification exam registration process click here Online Exam Process Register for the TCLA Exam by filling out the online TCLA application and paying the required fee An email confirmation will be sent to you giving you access to the TNLA Certification exam site You will have 90 days from the date of registration to complete the required sections Each exam must be passed with a minimum of 70 in order to earn the TCLA certification If any exam is not passed you will have one year from the date of the initial registration to retest A maximum of two retests are available within that year Both exams must be taken before you can apply for any retests Prices Exam fees for the TCLA exam includes both the TCLA section and Plant ID section is 75 for TNLA members and 150 for non members Retest fees are 50 for TNLA members and 100 for non members Manual fees for

    the nursery landscape industry TNLA has no position on pathway to citizenship TNLA s allied partners the American Nursery Landscape Association ANLA the Professional Landcare Network PLANET and their lobbyist Laurie Ann Flanagan produced the follow summary S 744 Summary This afternoon the Senate passed comprehensive immigration reform legislation S 744 by a vote of 68 32 The Border Security Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act S 744 includes provisions on border security the creation of a new W Visa a new agricultural guest worker visa program a mandatory E verify system and makes changes to the existing H 2B Program The bill would create a path to citizenship for the estimated 11 million individuals living in the US illegally It would also provide for 20 000 new Border Patrol agents requires the completion of 700 miles of fencing and requires an array of high tech devices be deployed to secure the border with Mexico S 744 would replace the existing H 2A program with a new agricultural worker program and would allow current undocumented farm workers to obtain legal status through an Agricultural Card Program The bill would do the following Workers that have made a substantial prior commitment to agricultural work in the US would be eligible for an Agricultural Card Workers who have fulfilled future Agricultural Card work requirements in US agricultural have paid all taxes have not been convicted of any serious crimes and pay a 400 fine are eligible to adjust to legal permanent resident status with spouses and minor children receiving derivative status A new agricultural guest worker visa program would be created to ensure an adequate agricultural workforce A portable at will employment based visa W 3 visa and a contract based visa W 2 visa would replace the current H 2A program which would be sunset after the new program is operational The legislation retains the existing H 2B program but makes some minor modifications The bill would do the following Exempt H 2B returning workers from the program s 66 000 annual cap through 2018 Modify the mechanism by which H 2B worker wages are calculated Require employers to pay incoming and outgoing transportation costs for the H 2B worker including reasonable subsistence costs during the period of travel Require the employer to certify and attest that they did not displace and will not displace a US worker employed by the employer in the same metropolitan statistical area within 90 days before the start and end dates of an H 2B worker and Require employers to pay a new 500 Department of Labor H 2B processing fee in addition to the significant fees already paid The legislation would also create a new year round W Visa Program for low skilled workers Spouses and minor children of the workers under the program would be allowed to accompany them to the United States and would also be given work authorization for the same period as the W visa holder Employer would need to

    Ends Wednesday May 11 1 30pm WEBINAR Labor and Immigration Update with Craig Regelbrugge of AmericanHort Begins Tuesday June 21 10 00am Ends Tuesday June 21 11 00am Texas Water Smart July 2013 Texas Water Smart is a diverse coalition of businesses trade associations state agencies cities and elected officials who have come together promote water conservation TNLA is a founding member of this first public private water conservation partnership Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples is lending his support currently as our spokesperson and as an advisor The goal of our public advocacy coalition is to educate families and businesses about the importance of water conservation provide simple conservation tips and inform the public about the potential negative economic impact caused by excessive water restrictions Since January of 2012 TNLA and the Membership has spent countless resources promoting Texas Water Smart across the state We have participated in numerous press events run television and radio spots used social media used billboards and distributed upwards of 50 000 educational literature pieces on water conservation measures We have conducted polling to measure our success and the results were very good People are willing to do small things that cost no money to conserve our water On June 15th TWS partnered up with the Texas Rangers Baseball organization to have TWS Day at the Ballpark in Arlington Potential donors and supporters converged to take place in the festivities and to help better educate the general public We distributed thousands of TWS water bottles rain gauges and caps to the fans Prior to the game our television commercials played on the Jumbotron and our radio spots played throughout the concourse during the game The Rangers donated one of the two suites we used TNLA will continue to work to help conserve our natural resources
