    course and engaged Wilsons says There are many advantages to taking classes to students via regional centers Wilson says but spiritual development can become more difficult Students on the main campus are either in the traditional undergraduate or seminary programs They can attend class eat work study live participate in co curricular activities and just hang out in a community geared to their spiritual as well as academic development Center students on the other hand attend class one night a week while balancing work and family responsibilities Classes open with prayer and student led devotionals but otherwise ministry may fall to classroom teachers who while practicing Christians and experts in their fields may lack formal theological or pastoral training Having to do spiritual formation in light of everything else they have to do is very difficult Wilson says Not only do Manna Moments serve students and faculty they also save wear and tear on the university pastor In order to fulfill his mission to all students faculty and staff wherever they may be Wilson and a student assistant were visiting each center at first weekly We would be exhausted Wilson says I was burning out my students Not to mention burning through gasoline and tires The distance from the main campus in Southeast Fresno north to the Merced Center is 62 miles From the main campus south to the Visalia Center is 36 miles and further south to the Bakersfield Center is 109 miles As big a step forward as Manna Moments are Wilson sees them as part of a process and knows there s no substitute for one on one interaction He is building connections with ministers in each community that hosts a regional center The ultimate goal for me is for every center to have its own campus pastor he says See all the Manna Moments at http vimeo com 85294158 Wayne Steffen is university editor at Fresno Pacific University Leave a comment Comment Name E mail Post 0 Comments Video devotionals encourage spiritual development at FPU Tuesday Mar 25 2014 24 episodes of Manna Moments available to adult students By Wayne Steffen Manna Moments three to four minute video devotionals that bring a little slice of heaven to degree completion and graduate students at Fresno Pacific University FPU are named after the daily care God gave to the Israelites as they traveled in the desert Then the Lord said to Moses Behold I will rain bread from heaven for you and the people shall go out and gather a day s portion every day Exod 16 4 RSV University Pastor Angulus Wilson began making Manna Moments in September 2013 and had finished 24 by the end of January 2014 Produced by the FPU Video Production Team Manna Moments are available on the main campus and at each of FPU s regional centers Merced North Fresno Visalia and Bakersfield In all 844 graduate students and 763 degree completion students have access to the videos The germ of the

    of the Rockies when recruiting new board members for this summer s election Schroeder noted that district ministers believe it would be valuable to attend Leadership Board meetings After some discussion the Leadership Board decided to invite district ministers or a district representative to the October board meeting as guests The board began its meeting Friday afternoon hearing brief staff reports from Morris concerning church planting and new church health initiatives and from Connie Faber Christian Leader editor Myra Holmes social media coordinator and Donna Sullivan bookkeeper and event coordinator Boschman gave his executive director s report during executive session Saturday morning Taylor reporting as the Web master gave board members a short tour of the new USMB Web site The Leadership Board concluded its meeting with a time of prayer for USMB staff In addition to the Leadership Board two other USMB meetings were held the second week of March in San Diego Calif The Board of Faith met March 12 13 Their agenda included finalizing a recommendation regarding Article 13 of the Confession of Faith The recommendation will be posted online The Leadership Summit convened March 13 14 Recently attendees at this annual gathering have varied depending on the focus of the meeting This year the discussion centered on the transition to a new executive director Attendees included the Strategic Review Team USMB staff members Boschman and Morris and district ministers or representatives Central District Conference minister Rick Eshbaugh Latin America district representative Aaron Hernandez North Carolina representative Terry Hunt Pacific District Conference minister Gary Wall and Southern District Conference minister Tim Sullivan Photos by Myra Holmes Photo 1 USMB Leadership Board members Clyde Ferguson of North Carolina and Vyacheslav Gladysh of California review a financial report during the March 14 15 meeting in San Diego Calif Photo 2 The USMB Leadership Board hopes to increase its membership and recently appointed Tim Hodge of Kansas as a 10th board member Leave a comment Comment Name E mail Post 0 Comments Leadership Board focuses on future of USMB Tuesday Mar 25 2014 Morris named interim executive director board will hire consultant By Connie Faber When the USMB Leadership Board met March 14 15 board members spent most of Friday in executive session focusing on the future of the conference as they discussed both long and short term issues that surround the retirement this summer of executive director Ed Boschman Leadership Board chair Steve Schroeder summarized the discussion and decisions Saturday morning when the board returned to open session Addressing the immediate vacancy that will be created August 1 when Boschman retires the Leadership Board appointed Don Morris as the interim USMB executive director Morris has served as the director of Mission USA the USMB church planting and renewal ministry since 2004 and will add the executive director s tasks to his current responsibilities Lori Taylor has agreed to continue serving as executive assistant and as Web master We have an excellent staff and we move forward with a lot
