and I knew he would not want to be singled out The only option I had left was to surrender the situation to God in prayer There was nothing I could do So I prayed specifically asking God to remove the sense of smell from Owen while he was in the cafeteria And you know what After the first week of school when I asked Owen how the cafeteria smelled he said It doesn t smell like anything It s fine Why would you say that It s never bothered him Not once I know that his sensitivity to smell is not gone completely because just a few weeks ago he sat in the dining room while his sister ate her stinky dinner in the kitchen Yet the cafeteria still doesn t smell That can only be attributed to God Hebrews 4 16 says Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace the throne of God s unmerited favor to us sinners that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in good time for every need AMP When I could no longer do anything I was reminded of how much I needed the Lord So I cried out to Him in prayer surrendering the situation to Him I expected Him to answer because I knew that He alone had the power to change the situation it was not possible without His intervention There was no other way And he responded Is there a situation you are facing that needs a God sized response If so I encourage you to surrender it to Him with confidence believing that He alone has the power to change it Then sit back and watch Him do great and mighty things Sybil Kolbert attends Bethany MB Church Fresno Calif This post originally appeared on the church s website www bethanychurchfresno com Follow her blog at www peaceitalltogether com Leave a comment Comment Name E mail Post 0 Comments Surrender Tuesday Feb 3 2015 By Sybil Kolbert I firmly believe that there are things God desires and has gifted each of us to do However I also believe that there are times when God simply wants us to make space for Him to move to perform great and mighty miracles so that His glory will be revealed and so that we will have the opportunity to praise Him It s in those times when we must be willing to draw on God s power to concede to allowing Him to work in the supernatural instead of in the natural 24 hour two hands two legs life These are the times when choosing God for me has meant surrender My six year old son Owen has Sensory Processing Disorder Essentially that means he experiences the world differently than most sounds may be too loud lights too bright or smells too overwhelming Owen started first grade this fall He was terrified and so was I While he had had
