    pm Location Ventura Library 7 Ventura St Ventura IA 50482 United States Description Women Caring for the Land incorporates a women only peer to peer informal discussion alongside an afternoon visit to see and discuss conservation practices in action The meeting starts at 8 30 a m with registration beginning at 8 30 continental breakfast and lunch provided We will finish up with closing discussion and dessert by 3 p m As estimates indicate that women now own or co own nearly half the farmland in the Midwest many wonder whether they are doing all they can to improve soil and water quality while maintaining high agricultural productivity Maintaining healthy soil is the key to productivity and environmental health for our farmland Women landowners who attend this meeting will learn to assess and improve the health of their soils In order for us to have the right amount of food available please RSVP by 4 p m Tuesday April 12 to the County Extension office bartus iastate edu or 641 423 0844 For more information about this program and other resources for women landowners visit www womencaringfortheland org If you have a female friend or family member who you think would benefit from this gathering please have her call and register too 15 16 17 18 19 20 Women Land and Legacy webinar Women Land and Legacy webinar April 20 2016 Starts April 20 2016 1 00 pm Ends April 20 2016 2 30 pm Description The regular monthly Iowa Learning Farms webinar for April will be on Wednesday April 20th at 1 p m This month s guest speakers are Wren Almitra Women Land Legacy Coordinator and Tanya Meyer Dideriksen NRCS Area Easement Specialist Women Land Legacy WLL is a USDA outreach project that gives agricultural women in Iowa the opportunity to network with other local women landowners to inform agencies of their needs and to become a well informed decision maker for their land and farming operation The program is led through local teams in 24 Iowa counties and has successfully reached over 3 000 individuals to date These local teams create a network of agricultural women who decide what programs projects and information they specifically need to assist them in farming and conservation decision making The presentation will cover the program s statewide presence and how new counties can become involved in Iowa as well as in other states The ILF webinars are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 1 p m They are free and all that is needed to participate is a computer with Internet access To log in go to https connect extension iastate edu ilf at 1 p m on the afternoon of the webinar and log in through the guest option Webinar participants will be able to converse with Almitra and Meyer Dideriksen by typing their questions through the chat function The webinar will be recorded and archived on the ILF website for viewing at any time at http
