BBCode with creole the two obvious omissions are color orange color size 7 size For obvious reasons creole should not have color More universal but less easy to digest would be ff0020 for the colour and or to indicate bigger or smaller sizes than standard for fontsize As for actual fonts Creole should not specify a font but there may be need to change from a proportional font like Arial to a mono space font like courier Monospace font is defined as an Addition It s some text YvesPiguet 2008 Apr 28 On reflection I don t think Creole should have a font colour attribute The reason for this is that to say the font is Red would clearly be application dependant if the text box is red Increasing and decreasing font size is relative so this could be part of the specification Logically making bigger would have something to do with the format for headings and making smaller would be a little like subscript I suppose logically you might think Elephant would be a tag to increase size by 2 and mouse to reduce by 2 but then again who invented Title The problem with saying bigger font is

as in bold This is obviously good common sense as with only around say 40 characters the chance of using a single character is fairly high otherwise why would they be there The the suggestion that a list heading can require one chacter not only contradicts the philosophy of Creole not only makes Creole ambiguous but is highly irritating to the average user who will sooner or later start a line with one of the 4 or more characters with a special meaning Ambiguity To any normal user the following would be expected to produce a bold uline bold text If the requirement is to have bold then why not simply insist on a unique character sequence for every bold and remove the ambiguity Prevention of normal use Most people want to start some paragraphs with a bold How does one start a paragraph with a bold if uline uline bold text Isn t allowed Wrong precedence Most people will use bold bold is a basic requirement of almost every text procesor whereas far fewer people use structured lists and to be honest it is just as simple to make your own list as to use Creole so there is

a bit too messy for this kind of work Eugene feel free to correct me JanneJalkanen 04 Sep 2006 After the discussion on the Talk BoldAndItalics i think Radomir is right about a missing terminology here a missing goal The question is Should Creole be visual or semantic citing him on Talk BoldAndItalics visual markup is much easier to introduce while the idea of semantic markup might be even impossible to explain If i look at the two goals of the WikiSym Readable 2 votes Easy to learn teach 2 votes and maybe even this here Clear separation of markup content 3 votes then i think this adresses this They could all be combined to form one goal Visual Markup Therefore Creole should be more visual than semantic It s an usability issue Combining the votes it would be a top goal So the top five goals would be Collision Free Cover the common things people need Extensible by omission Not new Principle of least innovation Visual over Semantic Pleas tell me your thoughts on this vote for it Christoph 15 Sep 2006 I d count clear separation of markup content as a vote for semantic but that s just me The term content is blurry at best and the whole sentence can mean many things to different people About semantic visual I don t really have any preference as long as we agree on one of them The current trend in development of Internet seems to be towards semantic things making it easier for indexing and searching and even for automatic processing of data The visual tags are discouraged in modern dialects of HTML and even obsolete This is how professionals want to see the future of the Internet On the other hand wikis are just tools to have
