  • Wildwoods at AEOE Conference | Wildwoods Foundation
s a couple of main points that I ll be making that are at the core of our philosophy at Wildwoods Dwain says First the idea that our built environment is just as much a part of our ecology as what we consider the natural world The second and more important point is that human relations lie at the heart of the issue of sustainability Most often when we speak about sustainability we re talking about resources and their allocation We seldom talk about how the choices for that allocation are made It boils down to this says Dwain If I don t care about my neighbor whether that neighbor lives around the block or around the globe then why would I bother leading a life that allows for others to have an existence of dignity and of a standard that society deems acceptable It does have to do with consumption but it also has to do with political awareness and how we vote Dwain concludes As Americans which lead a consumptive life far beyond those in developing countries and thus we have a tremendous responsibility See a video of the entire presentation here Tagged Share This Story Related Posts Attention Soda drinkers We need your empty 2 liter bottles 30 Apr 2016 0 Attention Soda drinkers We need your empty 2 liter bottles We Can Do Better 03 Oct 2015 0 We Can Do Better Wildwoods is Hiring 04 Aug 2015 0 Wildwoods is Hiring No Comment You can post first response comment Leave A Comment Click here to cancel reply Name required Email required Website Comment Featured Recent Posts The Impact of Full Circle on Science Education Attention Soda drinkers We need your empty 2 liter bottles 6th Annual Wildwoods Wine Tasting A Drop in the Bucket Year

  • Students Bring It Full Circle | Wildwoods Foundation
program conducted with Ms Barragan s class in 2010 This is exactly the kind of community minded perspective that we try to foster with the Full Circle program That these kids took this action on their own speaks directly to the hands on real world experiential learning that helps empower students with the understanding that they can have an impact on the world sometimes in a very close and immediate fashion And the fact that the students money was earned in the way it was is just delicious synchronicity Following the funding recently announced by LA City Councilmember Tom LaBonge and the Dwight Stuart Youth Fund there remains a gap in funding to secure the program delivery to Mayberry and Clifford elementary schools as well as the Environmental Studies Magnet program just launched this fall at King middle school It started at 7500 and it s been shrinking everyday but we still have a way to go said Wilson With the level of support we ve seen so far plus this truly inspirational act by these students I m confident that we ll be back in Silver Lake classrooms in January Want to join with the Mayberry students to support the Full Circle program in Silver Lake schools Click here Tagged Share This Story Related Posts Attention Soda drinkers We need your empty 2 liter bottles 30 Apr 2016 0 Attention Soda drinkers We need your empty 2 liter bottles We Can Do Better 03 Oct 2015 0 We Can Do Better Wildwoods is Hiring 04 Aug 2015 0 Wildwoods is Hiring No Comment You can post first response comment Leave A Comment Click here to cancel reply Name required Email required Website Comment Featured Recent Posts The Impact of Full Circle on Science Education Attention Soda drinkers We need
