news of the funding cuts hit everybody was in shock Especially after we d had such a great year with the launch of A Drop in the Bucket our new water education program Wilson said We d just had our orientation with the classroom teachers from all our schools and had to slam on the brakes in the matter of days It was a rough week It was a big disappointment for the kids and for the teachers said Annemarie Ralph coordinator for the King Middle School Environmental Studies Magnet program The Full Circle program was a part of our plan for the 6th grade students so we re excited to hear such good news This is great news said Wilson But we re not there yet We still need to raise another 7000 or so But with a little help from our friends I m sure we can bridge that gap You can support the Full Circle program in Silver Lake schools by clicking here Tagged Share This Story Related Posts Attention Soda drinkers We need your empty 2 liter bottles 30 Apr 2016 0 Attention Soda drinkers We need your empty 2 liter bottles We Can Do Better 03 Oct 2015 0 We Can Do Better Wildwoods is Hiring 04 Aug 2015 0 Wildwoods is Hiring No Comment You can post first response comment Leave A Comment Click here to cancel reply Name required Email required Website Comment Featured Recent Posts The Impact of Full Circle on Science Education Attention Soda drinkers We need your empty 2 liter bottles 6th Annual Wildwoods Wine Tasting A Drop in the Bucket Year One Wildwoods Halloween Beer Bus We Can Do Better Have an Ecoliterate Year Wildwoods is Hiring Categories California Schools Community Engagement Ecoliteracy Environmental Education Los Angeles Public Schools

  • Full Circle in Danger! | Wildwoods Foundation
the current economic climate has been rough for Wildwoods This latest news is the final in a series of blows that began just six weeks ago with the news of the reduction in LA City Council District offices provision of field trip buses adding more than 4000 to our fall programs costs Along with our other funding challenges this has created something of a perfect storm said Wilson We have poured over our cash flow projection and budget trimming every imaginable cost and stretching every dollar we have by re using every material we possibly can My salary was the first budget line item to go Unfortunately frugality alone will not solve this problem School Partners Participating schools have a cost share relationship contributing 20 of the cost of the program on their campus while Wildwoods raises the other 80 of the costs This year our school partners were able to secure their share of the costs but Wildwoods is having the toughest time ever said Wilson Mayberry Elementary School Principal Rosa Eshaq called the situation heartbreaking The Full Circle program is a tradition at Mayberry she said It s part of our culture It would be sad to see the kids lose this amazing experience Wilson echoed that sentiment in the statement focusing on the new Environmental Studies Magnet Program at King Middle School Full Circle is planned to be a part of the curriculum for the incoming 6th grade students I am writing this with a heavy heart For more than a decade we have conducted Full Circle come Hell or high water I would hate to see that our first year to go dark is the very year that we are realizing our long held goal of adding King Middle School students to our service population Annemarie Ralph Coordinator for the King Environmental Studies Magnet said We are really excited to have Full Circle as part of our magnet It aligns perfectly with our academic goals Not having it would be a tremendous disappointment to all Next Steps Upon receiving word of the situation stakeholders have leapt into action A viral email campaign is being launched by the schools and by Wildwoods At this point said Wilson We re open to all good ideas and any help we can get from the community We may have to delay the program until the spring which presents a whole other set of challenges so our immediate goal is to close this gap and begin the program in the next few weeks Those who wish to support Full Circle in Silver Lake schools can make a secure on line donation here Suggestions and ideas are welcome at FullCircle WildwoodsFoundation org Help send the Full Circle program Back to School Tagged Share This Story Related Posts Attention Soda drinkers We need your empty 2 liter bottles 30 Apr 2016 0 Attention Soda drinkers We need your empty 2 liter bottles We Can Do Better 03 Oct 2015 0 We Can Do
