    Run State Park Trail Reopening Previous Next 11 17 2015 8 23 PM Gary Kirk Joined 3 27 2008 Posts 170 Alapocas Run State Park Trail Reopening This Tuesday November 24 2015 1 15 PM at Alapocas Run State Park there will be a celebration of land donation and reopening of the Northern Delaware Greenways Previously a section of the Northern Delaware Greenways was allowed to cross Nemours properly by a trail easement Recently The Nemours Foundation gave the property the trail is situation on to the state and with that improvements were possible Please join Governor Markell DNREC Secretary Small Nemours Foundation representatives and many trail users for this celebration of outstanding improvement a terrific trail system It would be great to see as many Wilmington Trail Club users of this trail to attend this event and show their support for this trail and other trails across the Delaware Please RSVP to dnrecevents state de us by noon Monday November 23 This is a rain or shine event Please arrive early and park at the Blue Ball Barn Delaware State Parks staff will be onsite to direct you to the event site which is about a 10 minute walk along a paved trail to the Nemours Woods Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy shoes for this outdoor event In case of inclement weather the event will be held at the Blue Ball Barn Directions to Blue Ball Barn 1914 West Park Drive Wilmington 19803 From points North via I 95 Follow I 95 South to Exit 8 for RT 202 North Stay to the right and take the first exit for RT 141 South RT 261 North On the exit ramp stay to the left for RT 141 South At the light turn left to go

    first time here go ahead and Register User Login User Name Enter your User Name below Password Enter your Password below Remember Login Register Forgot Password Forums Forums Search Home Home Club Informatio Announcements Help Save the Recreational Trail Program Previous Next 11 9 2015 6 04 PM Gary Kirk Joined 3 27 2008 Posts 170 Help Save the Recreational Trail Program The message below we received last from the Coalition for Recreational Trails Two amendments to HR 3763 have been offered eliminating federal Recreational Trail Funds RTP for states from the Highway Transportation Bill currently in the U S House of Representatives A vote was for last week The link to the amendments that appears below shows no action has occurred It may not be too late for you to help Key points Delaware has relied on RTP to upgrade trails on state lands Funds will help city and county agencies maintain trails and rehabilitate trails to improve accessibility and longevity Trails are the number 1 outdoor recreational facility in Delaware across the state Trail use hiking biking running walking has seen significant increases since the RTP were first available Using trails is relatively inexpensive outdoor activity Trails promote

    David Koppeser Joined 3 28 2008 Posts 53 Celebrating 50th Anniversary of the White Clay Watershed Association Celebrating 50th Anniversary of the White Clay Watershed Association Annual Meeting presents Claudia Smith author of Planting in a Post Wild World as guest lecturer Location Deerfield Country Club Newark Date Nov 16 at 7 pm In October of 1965 two coalitions of concerned citizens one from Delaware and one from Pennsylvania fighting a dam on the White Clay Creek came together to form the White Clay Watershed Association WCWA Today because of their success the White Clay Creek continues to flow The dam project was abandoned and much of the land surrounding the White Clay Creek is now part of the White Clay Creek State Park in Delaware and the White Clay Creek Preserve in Pennsylvania After the initial victory the organization continued to fight for continued protection from development The entire watershed was designated a Wild and Scenic River in 2000 the first such watershed receiving this designation in the nation It receives additional protections under the auspices of the National Park Service and is managed by the White Clay Wild and Scenic Management Committee Without the diligence and dedication of the members of this association for the last 50 years this natural resources would have been lost Because of the WCWA there are public trails and preserved lands we now use for hiking biking fishing and other recreational experiences As well as a place where wildlife thrives The public is invited to the WCWA s Annual Meeting and celebration of its 50th anniversary on Monday November 16 at Deerfield As part of the Annual Meeting Claudia West from North Creek Nurseries will share her ideas from the enticing new publication Planting in a Post Wild World Designing and managing conservation
