    his retirement July 1 1992 He also served as Vicar of St James Green Ridge PA from 1951 to 1954 He was Chaplain of Fair Acres Farm Lima PA 1964 to 1990 During retirement Fr Battin served for fourteen months as Interim Rector of St Stephen s Church Clifton Heights Fr Battin was currently attending St Andrew s Episcopal Church in Shippensburg While serving at St John s he and his wife founded the St John s Episcopal Church Nursery School He served as Dean of the Brandywine Deanery for several years and was a Founding Board Member of The Concept School in Westtown PA He and his wife enjoyed and collected antiques and artwork His beloved wife Jean Cope Battin whom he married November 24 1951 preceded him in death on May 25 2002 He is survived by two children Kimberly Jean Battin of Chambersburg and Christopher Weston Battin of Bowling Green OH He was preceded in death by a brother Henry Battin A Requiem Eucharist and the Burial Office will be celebrated at St John s Episcopal Church 576 Concord Road Glen Mills PA 19342 on Saturday January 26 2008 at 11 00 a m Burial will be

  • Thank You St. John's Family!
    As wonderful as that affiliation has been Kim and I are adjusting to life without our Dad He taught all of us well through his day to day example just as much as through his sermons If there is anything that I hope to take with me into the future because of Dad s influence it would be this Christian love and integrity God works out in each of us how that phrase manifests itself Sometimes one person s Christian love and integrity is in conflict with that of another person Dad recognized this and managed to bring people with opposing interpretations together through the example of his life Friends and Members of St John s whether you were there during his time or have come along since then you are blessed to have had him as you rector and Sheppard for over forty years and to call him Father Kim and I are blessed to know that for all of our days past present and future we will be able to call him Dad Furthermore we are blessed to know that in St John s no matter where life takes each of us in the future Kim and I

    Life ceremony This butterfly sheet was placed over Dad s body as a bed sheet would be placed A lite chime was heard over the intercom system followed the words Edward Battin 504 Bed One Prayers of thanksgiving were offered along with the Lord s Prayer and the 23rd Psalm This was an awesome experience as the staff shared with us in our loss The sheet was still on the
