how I may do this In particular it would be nice to know who has changed the productionstate of a device and preferably also from and to states We use productionstate to decide whether or not we should wake up somebody when a service fails so we really would like to trace back any changes to productionstate and possibly other things I have tried to enable user logging in Z2 log but apparently Z2 log doesn t really log changes to productionstate Is this possible I don t mind having to do some extra stuff to get it working I d prefer that I can get the modifications logged into a file Hope that somebody can help Kind Regards Thomas Tags audit log Top Log in to post comments Tue 04 01 2014 07 24 2 Hydruid Offline Last seen 1 year 1 month ago Joined 12 29 2013 13 47 Posts 341 Take a look at this thread Take a look at this thread http community zenoss org message 75317 This feature is not available in core by default you must do some tweaking Google search zenoss auditing Hydruid http www hydruid blog com Top Log in to post

This is what I have done to test this Enable Ping monitoring for monitored device Enable SNMP monitoring for monitored device Enable a specific Nagios plug in command for monitored device Drop ICMP packets with IPTables monitored device Stop SNMP service monitored device After that Ping events still coming as they should SNMP command events not monitored device not receiving any SNMP request either checked with tcpdump But I was expecting Monitored device to get SNMP requests Zenoss to track what is going on even with Ping down my NOC can mainly have SNMP but we do not want to Ignore Ping monitoring at all they should coexist This makes SNMP command monitoring useless when Ping is not available and we need it this way What should I change to get this working for us I am able to modify the source code if pointed in the right direction Zenoss Core v5 0 5 here Thanks in advance Update I think I have finally found what I was looking for A boolean it seems Tags zencommand zenping zenperfsnmp Top Log in to post comments Mon 11 30 2015 11 50 2 Trelane Offline Last seen 6 hours 43 min ago

avg the argument it expects Not so fast Python eval apparently doesn t support assignments So yeah this also failed dplist laLoadInt5 here hw cpus countObjects TotalCpuUsage here hw cpus countObjects 99 0 avg dplist After looking closely at the avg function code in utils py I saw it just divides the total against the length as you might expect That s pretty easy right so I can just do it myself Nope I even took out the len function to simplify and just divided by two as I knew it did not need to be dynamic in this case In other words I couldn t think of a case where I was going to have more arguments than cpu util and cpu load laLoadInt5 here hw cpus countObjects TotalCpuUsage here hw cpus countObjects 99 0 2 Here is the final error Expression for hostname CpuUtilAndLoad laLoadInt5 here hw cpus countObjects TotalCpuUsage here hw cpus countObjects 99 0 2 failed list object is not callable I didn t see any lists in my expression but I googled the list object is not callable anyway Here is what I found Basically a bunch of smart python people agreeing that I used parens to call my list s when I should have used brackets http stackoverflow com questions 5735841 python typeerror list object That seems reasonable but I don t see a list in my expression maybe you do but then I noticed that Zenoss actually wrapped my expression in parens in the error event that was generated It got me to thinking maybe the CP zp code actually treats the expressions as lists but then calls it with parens instead of brackets I don t know if that is true but I think I could definitely use some help at this
