    their families living in London England and Wales as they face challenges in the process of settlement and of integrating into the UK community The network also aims to secure resources to deliver projects that promote and nurture girls and women s skills to enable them to lift themselves and their families out of poverty Our work is guided by the desire for a just and fair society where power and possibilities are not limited by our gender race tribe colour disability or age Our goal therefore is to support the efforts of women and girls and to enable them to embark on a journey to take their rightful positions in the business political academic corporate world and to have an opportunity to influence changes that will lead to their economic empowerment We are a group with energy and resourcefulness and part of the UK mainstream women s movement working to contribute towards gender equality Our Mission To provide a service and platform for the benefit of the socially and economically disadvantaged migrant and refugee women living in London in particular but not exclusively to Zimbabweans by Developing their capacity and skills in such a way that they are better

    These services include specifically targeted training programmes individual advice and guidance sessions and 1 1 mentoring with professionals in the field who not only provide contacts and guidance on how things are done they are role models too The mentoring program provides development activities which will support career planning and progression facilitate development of individual capabilities and provide the space to engage with and understand the issues facing Black young people in accessing education and employment Women empowerment programs including training and support to improve skills increase employability and enable economic empowerment Family support including parenting Primary benefits from our activities We offer individual and community support sanctuary for migrants with their related problems immigration issues Health and Poverty Promotion of social inclusion and integration of migrants and their children into the host community Contributing towards a better society through promoting social inclusion and social capital Health promotion and wellbeing in general and in particular for people with a terminal medical condition Contributing to members good mental and physical health aiding the prevention of ill health fostering composure in the face of ill health Platform for support advice and information on issues of immigration health and welfare benefits and signposting for specialist services Platform for women s empowerment including social enterprise activities Advocacy and policy representation on the rights and welfare of women refugees asylum seekers students migrant workers and their families living in London Advancing education and training for employability Promote and nurture girls and women s skills to enable them to enter employment and lift themselves out of poverty How we identify our beneficiaries and their needs Referrals from partner organisations including UKBA PCTS Social Services departments in the Borough Councils solicitors and other community organisations Word of mouth Using borough exploratory socio economic and health promotion surveys

    its Articles of Association Recruitment and Appointment of Management Committee The directors of the company are also charity trustees for the purposes of charity law This structure forms our Management Committee Under the requirements of the Memorandum and Articles of Association the members of the Management Committee are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting Induction and training of Trustees The trustees are committed to building the capacity of the Management Committee and trustees are elected on the basis of specific areas of development including fundraising financial responsibilities and strategic planning In early 2011 we reviewed and improved our trustee recruitment policy and sought new trustees to join the Committee Strategic planning and development In addition to overseeing the running of the organisation and receiving management reports from the Executive Director on ZIWNUK s work the Management Committee undertake strategic reviews of the organisation We aim to have Annual Development Days for trustees and also get input from staff volunteers and service users which serve as a consultation mechanism that feeds into the up dating of the Business Plan Quality Assurance ZIWNUK is committed to renewing our Quality assurance Systems to ensure effective performance and good practice Implementing PQASSO ensures

    I am much better now and have somewhere to live Thembi Provided community presence and representation Increased sense of belonging for our community When I come to the office ZIWNUK offices I feel at ease to ask questions and get help without feeling judged Ketiwe ZIWNUK service user Increased social stability and social cohesion Increased ability of excluded groups to access services and influence decision makers When I was first diagnosed with HIV I thought that was the end of my life I didn t know where to start because I did not have any papers When a friend introduced me to ZIWNUK I was so afraid that they too would turn me away Instead they helped me get specialist treatment despite my immigration status they helped me to speak to my MP to help me with my immigration situation They even wrote to the Home Office and through the support groups that I have been attending at ZIWNUK they taught me to speak with confidence even to the Home Office Anonymous Increased understanding of processes and enhance integration for new arrivals I first came to England to look after my sister who was not well but then I also fell ill shortly after she had recovered By this time my visitor s visa had run out My sister said I could not work because of my status so I was stuck at home She would not give me any money or any other support but to stay in the house and eat her food With time our relationship became strained and she asked me to leave the house I did not know where to go as I had not met anyone since I had come to England She told me to go to Zimbabwe Women s Network She did

    advertised in our community especially those hard to reach We welcome and encourage feedback from all stakeholders service users as well as professional partners and to incorporate that feedback in our future programs and services Fairness Equal access to the services that we offer for everyone who is eligible for support that no one is ever turned away without receiving some level of support The programs and services we provide takes into account the diversities of the people in our community Decency That all our services users are treated with respect dignity and their information with confidentiality Accountability We respect and adhere to the governing rules set by the Charity Commission and Company House and submit Annual returns and Financial information at set timescales once a year All our staff and management committee are accountable for all their actions and can be called to account in the event of not performing their duties to expected capacity We have a complaints procedure in place to address any issue that may arise and we aim to resolve all complaints quickly and satisfactorily Transparency We aim to provide accurate information on all our services and the money that we get to run the
